Welcome the return of Benoît Mintiens, founder and creative mind of Ressence. Apart from presenting TYPE 5L, TYPE 3 and TYPE 2, more importantly, the main purpose is to article the essence of Ressence.

We kindly invite you to pay attention to the upgrade of TYPE 3. The font and dial layout is refined, improving the legibility of time. Benoît appreciates both versions. It’s a matter of choice at different period of time.

TYPE 5L is the latest member of Ressence family. Designed for diving, it passes the rigorous ISO 6425 test, remaining accurate despite the hard hit by hammer. Water-resistant up to 100 meters.

The TYPE 5's organic design is inspired by nature. Like sea turtles with their unique shapes that glide through water. TYPE 5 L comes with the extra strong green Super-LumiNova®.

TYPE 2 stands for the ultimate goal of Ressence, aiming to build trust and reliable relation between you and the watch. It’s a fully mechanical watch with 2 time zones. eCrown® is at your disposal. As mentioned by Benoît, smartphone is Ressence’s biggest enemy. He is longing for a watch which you can trust.

On his wrist is the TYPE 3 B, a design from 21st century. Imagine, if there’s no watchmaking in the history and you wanted an object on your wrist to tell time, what functions would you ask for? How would it look like?
If there’s a watch that’s for 21st century, Benoît hopes it would be Ressence.

Before diving into in-depth discussion with collectors, let’s enjoy signature dim sum. Cha siu bao (BBQ pork bun) and Soy Sauce Fried Noodles are the favourite of Benoît.
Later Benoît would compare the traditional watchmaking vs watchmaking in 21st century from an industrial designer perspective.

Back to the time, the look (dial with hands on top, 2 1/2 D according to Benoît) was pretty much driven the watchmaker/ engineer. Parts and gears came first. From bottom to top (from within to outside), the watches were built.
What Benoît wants to do, as an industrial designer, is to think HOW to fit YOU the best. The 3D convex dial is not only organic, it’s also part of the movement. The curved dials and the ball bearings form the system of time telling. The most complicated part (movement) is hidden as it should not bother the owners. Ressence watches are developed from outside to within.

Benoît is also a guest speaker for Dubai Watch Week Forum. The topic is “To Infinity & Beyond: Exploring the Next Useful Mechanical Frontier”. One example to show that Ressence is working for YOU. We read faster on flat surface, (imagine, flowing words on paper would be a disaster) that’s why Ressence got no layered hands.

A big supporter to Ressence, Alex has kept wearing his TYPE 1 since 2015. A watch well tested! During the years, Ressence has keep evolving with his own strong DNA and philosophy, from industrial design perspectives, bringing various mechanical models to the collectors. From the refined case shape of TYPE 1, the simplicity of TYPE 8, the new play of colour on TYPE 3, the ultimate TYPE 2, to the luminosity of TYPE 5.
