Ressence Event 2019
-
Getting ready to unveil the TYPE 2 e-crown.
-
When you talk to the founder of Ressence, Benoît Mintiens, the journey starts and he will bring you through from the concept to the mechanical part. Type 2 e-crown is absolutely a mechanical watch.
-
The first lession: turst. To what extend do you trust your watch? Would you prefer to check the phone or a watch to get the precise time?
Type 2 is born to build up the trust.
-
Visually, it is represented on the dial by the selector sub disc and its four modes (time zone 1, time zone 2, app and e-Crown off). And it's equipped with custom made photovoltaic cells under 10 micro-shutters.
-
Type 2 has a power saving function. When the watch is not on your wrist for more than 12 hours, e- Crown® will automatically hold the barrel of the mechanical movement. When putting the watch back on your wrist, e-Crown® will release the barrel and Type 2 will start running again by double tapping the sapphire.
-
Fine-watchmaking must embrace new technologies to bring back functionality and excitement for the new generations.

-
Guess what's inside :)
-
And Benoît is wearing this Type 5B on his wrist.
-
This dial is submerged in the oil, giving the visual trick under the convex sapphire glass.
-
Our guests are well prepared to raise technical questions to Benoît and he's very happy to tackle all the challenges! From the options of material to the R&D process, the conversation is just inspiring.
-
To talk more about TYPE 2, it can be connected to the apps, or it can be use stand alone as it is. It's not a smart phone.
-
So the watch is at zone two, referring to the zone selector pointing to the green indicator.
-
TYPE 2 is an automatic watch, at the same time it can be charged by light.
-
You can still find signature lever at the case back. It's the Ressence family.
-
Double tape the dial to awaken the TYPE 2 journey. And we shall tell you more.
