A watch collecting world well-painted

Shall we kick-start 2023 with a spectrum of watch collection? From the case materials, dial treatments, to strap leathers, independents would never let you down. We understand you may obsessed with a particular pigment, which is absolutely fine, who say there is only one same black/blue?

URWERK UR100V ULTRAVIOLET

Violet! This magnificent shade is located at the far end of the visible colour spectrum perceptible to the human eye. Anything beyond violet is outside the field of colour. The case is made in Violet DLC on sanded shot-blasted titanium. Co-founder and Chief Designer of Urwerk, Martin Frei, talks about the colour that is so special to him: "I like the fact that a colour is much more than what we can perceive. The colour spectrum visible to our eyes ranges from red to violet. Beyond that shade, colour turns into a waveform that our eyes can no longer detect, ultraviolet. I am fascinated by the idea of creating a watch that celebrates this boundary, this tipping point, this transition from perceptible to imperceptible. The UR-100V UltraViolet is about this exploration of the limits. Our UltraViolet conveys something mystical, it's a hue that sits on the border of a dimension we call colour."

RESSENCE TYPE8 COBALT BLUE

It is a relatively new kind of blue to Ressence. The matt Cobalt Blue grade 5 titanium convex dial (75mm radius) is running on a jewel ball bearing with eccentric satellites rolling on jewel ball-bearings inclined at 9,75° (hours). Engraved indications are filled with 100% Blue Superluminova grade A. The TYPE 8 has a hyper-modern, sleek case whose deceptively simple, lean silhouette is the most minimal of all Ressence creations. Crafted entirely from grade five titanium, the 42.9 mm case contributes to an extremely light overall weight of 42 grams only. It is powered by a traditional automatic movement, reinforcing Ressence's commitment to mechanical innovation.

HALDIMANN HOROLOGY

The signature gilded-plated satin-finish surfaces is done in Mr. Beat Haldimann workshop without any help of CNC machines. He takes his science to its furthest expression and uses only vintage machines that he unearths on his travels around Switzerland and Europe. Less is more: that which is invisible may stimulate the imagination more than things that can be seen. The back of the H1’s movement has no bridges, hardly any toothed wheels, no traditional decoration: nothing but a large engraved full plate, seven bearing jewels and three toothed wheels. Nothing else. The secret behind the Haldimann watches can only be guessed at by someone who studies it very carefully. Those looking at it superficially only see a conventional design.

RESERVOIR KANISTER

The KANISTER collection is inspired by the RPM counter of the legendary 356 Speedster car. The pastel green minute indexes, a red area, a black dial and a white hand housed in a grade 5 titanium case with polished finishes elegantly sign the breathtaking design of this series. Worn on a leather strap like bucket seats of the time, the KANISTER collection pays tribute to the spirit of freedom that breathed the decade of the 1950s. The collection includes a set of 4 leather bracelets.

THE CITIZEN HAND-DYED INDIGO WASHI PAPER DIAL

The delicate Japanese paper allows light to reach the Eco-Drive movement while also providing a beautiful texture in an appealing range of colors. The dials of the newest additions to this collection feature Tosa washi paper, hand-dyed using traditional Japanese methods to achieve a deep, clear indigo color also known as “Japan blue.” The Tosa washi paper on the dial is hand-dyed by Watanabe’s in Tokushima, an indigo farm and dyehouse that carries out the entire hand-dyeing process including cultivating indigo plants, making the dye, dyeing the paper, and finishing the final product. Two new models are released from this collection. The first is equipped with the world’s most accurate light-powered movement, the Caliber 0100 Eco-Drive movement, with annual accuracy of ±1 second. The second features a high-accuracy light-powered Eco-Drive movement with annual accuracy of ±5 seconds.

TRILOBE NUIT FANTASTIQUE

The intertwining of the minutes and seconds gives a glimpse of the infinite and the time that goes on endlessly, within a satin-finished and polished in-dial bezel. The elegant, grained dial is a real technical challenge, underlying the watch elegance. “Secret” Edition is an invitation to immortalise a precious moment in a poetic way. The starry sky is a freeze frame for a selected point in life. Indicate a date, a place and a time and Trilobe obtains the position of the stars for this place and this precise moment.

CAMPANOLA BENIAKE URUSHI DIAL

Richly layered lacquer and powdered silver evoke the deep red glow of the sun's dawning light. Created by master craftsman Tetsuo Gido using traditional Aizu lacquerware techniques, each watch face is individually handcrafted. Five layers of lacquer are then applied by hand, the surface is dusted with powdered silver, and a thin layer of iridescent red lacquer is applied to fix the powder in place. The silver in the center of the face is then polished with charcoal, and the entire face is polished with whetstone powder. To finish, another layer of iridescent red lacquer is applied and polished until the face shines with a rich, jewel-like glow.

KRAYON ANYWHERE MÉTIERS D’ART AZUR

The magic of miniature painting, at play with a myriad hues of blue, on a sublimated dial, merging age-old mastery and modern inspiration. The choice of a multitude of blues amplifies the purpose of this ANYWHERE watch, like an invitation to contemplation, before sunrise. That magical moment when nature, in suspension, awaits the light. To achieve this effect, a myriad small alveoli have been hollowed out into which a Swiss enamelling artist has patiently deposited, by hand, each dab of lacquer until the desired spectrum of blue hues is obtained, producing an outcome of unparalleled finesse. Hinting at the mysterious cosmos at night-time, the sky turns azure with a shining sun, each day anew on a journey each can imagine and set out on for themselves.
