Carl Suchy & Söhne June 2023

  • Mr. Robert Punkenhofer, CEO of Carl Suchy & Söhne visiting HK and present the novelties Belvedere as well as Table Waltz Jubilee. He is an internationally renowned art and design expert, responsible for more than 100 exhibitions and special projects.

  • The silky-matt case of 25 cm and refined in meticulous hand- crafting smoothly merges with the movement, endowing the table clock with its understated elegance and a radiant appeal. The special model is limited to 10 pieces and created for watch lovers who appreciate the value of the Viennese sense of time.

  • The hand-polished and engraved glass on the front and back (in partnership with J & L Lobmeyr) fits seamlessly into the coni- cal shape of the brass case and offers a dramatic light-flooded stage to the seemingly floating movement.

  • Only at the full hour will the delicate chime of the silver bell remind you of the time. The in-house CS-T1 movement consists entirely of Austrian individual parts: plates, pins, and the open-worked gears in characteristic Carl Suchy & Söhne-design illustrated by award winning Designer Rainer Mutsch, were specially handcrafted in Lower Austria by our watchmastermaker Therese Wibmer.

  • The key to wind up the clock.

  • Belvedere means “Beautiful view”. The Belvedere communicates Vienna’s relaxed attitude towards life, to enjoy every moment with a “beautiful view”.The case back reveals a decorated automatic movement with a rotor featuring the micro-engraved facade of Belvedere Palace.

  • On the occasion of Carl Suchy & Söhne’s 200th anniversary, the Austrian watch brand presents a sporty, robust automatic watch with a unique date display. The Belvedere is the perfect companion for a plunge into the Danube or an elegant gala at the Viennese Hofburg, the former imperial palace.

  • The stainless-steel case of the Belvedere is subtly animated by the interplay of polished and satin-finished surfaces.

  • Adding a familiar “Suchy twist”, the Belvedere features a unique “jumping” date display window that changes position each day, transforming the look of the watch every twenty-four hours.

  • The integrated high-quality rubber strap has an elegantly textured inner surface for maximum wearing comfort even while the wearer is engaged in sports. Even swimmers can keep the watch on while in the water since the screw-down crown allows water resistance up to one-hundred meters.

  • Belvedere runs on the CSS201 caliber, which is built upon a Dubois Dépraz and delivers 42 hours of power reserve.

  • Produced in strictly limited special series of five watches a year, the Waltz N°1 Skeleton is the successful declination of the classic Waltz N°1. The dial’s open lines reveal just enough to anticipate the refinement of the ultra-thin skeleton automatic movement VMF 5401/180 by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.

  • Honoring the brand’s original DNA, the dial has been carefully openworked along the subtle horizontal and vertical lines and is adorned with the iconic rotating seconds-disc at 6 o’clock, which features the identical guilloche-pattern and is thus aligned with the rest of the dial as it waltzes in a perfect circle once per minute.

  • The Waltz N°1 Skeleton’s design fluidity was inspired by Austrian architect and designer Adolf Loos, who introduced the golden age of Viennese Modernism. The movement is powered by a decentralized micro-rotor, which is expertly finished with the same perpendicular vertical and horizontal striping as found on the dial and provides 42 hours of autonomy.

  • The Waltz N°1 Day & Night. Like Yin and Yang, the seconds disc at 6 o’clock dances its circles, bringing together the seemingly contrasting colors in perfect harmony and then again dividing the dial into two perfect halves every full minute.

  • 200 years ago, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire there was only one address for luxury watches: Carl Suchy & Söhne. The watchmaker and accredited purveyor to the court stood for perfect quality, precision, and timeless elegance. Aristocrats, artists, industrials, and even Emperor of Austria, Franz Joseph I, were amongst his customers. In 2016 Carl Suchy & Söhne is reestablished – the only luxury watch brand that combines Viennese elegance and Swiss precision.

  • Suchy was the most important reference for watch aficionados of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and the intellectual elite of Fin de Siécle Vienna. Now the long legacy of Carl Suchy & Söhne is brought back into the present.

  • There were two Carl Suchy’s most famous clients, Austrian-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph I. and Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. In the new era, the brand appreciates the interest of every watch collector.

  • It is grateful for the trust and partnership between Carl Suchy & Söhne and The Lavish Attic. More new projects to come!
